Vineeth Srinivasan’s Shocking Joke Returns—But with a Clever Spin
1 month ago | 5 Views
Comedian Vineeth Srinivasan captivated the audience during his performance at the Laughs Per Minute: Breathless Edition show held in Mumbai on Friday night. He revisited the contentious ‘would you rather’ joke that had previously caused significant controversy for Ranveer Allahbadia, but with a notable twist.
What was Vineeth's joke?
The comedy night focused on the pressing issue of escalating air pollution in Mumbai. Among the lineup of comedians were Daniel Fernandes, Aditi Mittal, Raunaq Rajani, Aadar Malik, and Supriya Joshi. At one point during the performance, Vineet humorously posed the question, “Would you prefer to witness your parents inhale 2.5 pm particulate matter or encourage the government to take action and resolve the issue permanently?” This quip elicited enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience.
Once the audience settled down, Vineeth addressed the concerning air quality in Mumbai, likening it to the experience of ‘smoking 2.9 cigarettes daily.’ He acknowledged that this realization could potentially save a smoker ₹60 each day.
The India's Got Latent controversy
A significant controversy arose following the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) last month against Makhija, along with YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others affiliated with the show India's Got Latent. The FIR was initiated based on accusations of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions during the publicly accessible YouTube program.
The show faced criticism after Ranveer Allahbadia made several inappropriate comments during an episode. While appearing on India's Got Latent, the podcaster posed a provocative question to a contestant: "Would you rather watch your parents... or join in once and stop it forever?" This segment quickly gained traction online, leading to widespread condemnation of Ranveer's remarks by social media users.
Reports indicate that the Maharashtra cyber police have summoned over 30 individuals for questioning following the registration of the FIR. However, the police have yet to take the statement of comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina, who served as the host of India's Got Latent.
