Actor Vinayakan, recognized for his performances in Malayalam and Tamil cinema, including titles such as Marco and Jailer, is once again at the centre of controversy. A video has surfaced online showing him using profanity towards a neighbour while attired in a mundu. In light of the criticism he has received, the actor has addressed the situation.

A video featuring Vinayakan expressing his frustrations on a balcony has been widely shared on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. In the footage, the actor is observed shouting at an individual while attempting to secure his mundu, which is slipping from his waist. At one moment, he loses his balance and remains seated after a brief struggle to rise. Additionally, some clips depict him exposing himself to his neighbours while using profane language directed at someone from the balcony.

Following the video's surge in popularity, public speculation arose regarding the actor's sobriety, with some individuals suggesting that he ought to face suspension. One commenter stated, “What has happened to actor #Vinayakan? He should be promptly suspended from Malayalam Cinema.” Another remarked, “#Vinayakan. Is he an actor or merely intoxicated? He deserves to be banned from performing.” Additionally, a user on X noted, “Once again, actor #Vinayakan is trending on social media for negative reasons. He has even shared posts from his Facebook account featuring individuals who have circulated the images.”

Following the criticism he received, Vinayakan took to Facebook to express himself in Malayalam. According to a translation by Matrubhumi, he stated, “As both a film actor and an individual, I find myself struggling with various challenges. I extend my apologies to the public for any adverse energy I may have generated. I encourage the continuation of discussions.”

A history of controversy

Vinayakan has previously found himself embroiled in controversy due to his disruptive conduct in public settings. In 2023, the actor was apprehended for causing a disturbance at a police station in Ernakulam, Kochi, and was subsequently released on bail. The following year, he was detained at Hyderabad airport after engaging in a confrontation with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Additionally, a video surfaced last year showing the actor using profane language at a tea stall, which gained significant attention online.

In the near future, Vinayakan is set to appear in the Malayalam film Karinthandan and the Tamil film Dhruva Natchathiram.
