Vikrant Massey came to Kolkata with a high fever and amid torrential rain. However, that could not deter his enthusiasm for the city. He joined a talk show and showered praise on the city. “We talk highly about the US. But there we can't get food at midnight. Look at our country. If someone is hungry at midnight in Kolkata or Mumbai, no problem. You will not starve,” he said. Amid the protests in the city, Vikrant gave this message.
There was the request not to ask any controversial questions, especially anything about the RG Kar incident. Still, reporters asked him about it and Vikrant said that not only women but every person in this country should feel safe. He further said that his recent film Special 36 showed some of those aspects.
In a candid conversation, Vikrant talked about his life. He started acting at the age of sixteen to help his father and pay for his studies. He started with television and then went to films and web series. Lots of earnings on the one hand and change in the relationship dynamics on the other. What did he learn? Vikrant replied, “Money is needed not only for a happy life but for confidence.” He said that those who claim that money is the source of unrest or that money can't buy everything make a mistake. Money can build confidence which can help a person be happy. He also thinks that life's motto should not be only earning money.
The actor said, “You work diligently and be honest to yourself. Success will knock at your door.” He also admitted that success needs to be celebrated through awards or honors. Hence he waits for awards because he gives his 100 per cent in each role. He lost eight kilos to show himself as a 19-year-old man in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film 12th Fail. He kept a beard. He jokingly said, “There were still some lags, and technology compensated for that.”
Vikrant means different characters, exceptional acting, and stories with new trends. Is this aura around him because of staying different from others? Vikrant laughed. 'I also know that. I feel bad. I wish to work in commercially successful films. Four people will be beaten by me, I will romance the heroine...Who doesn't want it? But who will give it to me?' He then became serious, 'My films taught me life and enriched me. I carried the characters for a long time. They disturbed my sleep. Still, these characters fetched me to you. Hence I am grateful to each of my films and each of my characters.'
