Vikrant Massey, the name once synonymous with daily grind of television soap operas like Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, Dharam Veer, and Balika Vadhu, had a keen eye for cinema. His Bollywood debut as supporting character in Lootera in 2013 was a subtle introduction of his talent. Yet he remained in the shadows for several years. However, it was 12th Fail that ignited the screen, transforming Massey into a powerhouse of talent. His performance successfully resonated with the audience, and industry alike.

Vikrant Massey's denial being called ‘box office star’

Despite 12th Fail raking up a massive Rs. 69 crores at the box office last year against a modest Rs. 20 crore budget, and dominating the OTT platform, Vikrant shies away from the label of being called a ‘box office star'.

While talking to Mashable India, the actor stated that “Jab shuru kiya tha film ke liye tayyari karna tab ek valid scepticism tha ki cinema mein aani hai film. Bahot saare actual log the actors nahin the. (When we started preparing for the film, there was a valid scepticism that 12th Fail will be releasing in the theatres. There were a lot of people who were not actors). I still am not a box office star. I still have a long way to go for that.”

Vikrant Massey's vision about his future

While being grounded and humble, the Blackout-actor further shared that true stardom is a marathon, and not a sprint. For him, consistent delivery is the gold standard, and he envisions a future for him where his filmography is arobust line-up, rather than a solitary hit.

He also jokingly revealed that if he ever consistently has 5-7 hits, then he might on the tagline ‘box office star', which is still a “bare minimum” for him though. Massey emphasise that box office clout is not a badge earned with a single victory, but a testament to sustained brilliance.

Vikrant Massey's upcoming film

The Forensic-actor is currently gearing up with Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, which is slated to release on August 9 on Netflix. This romantic thriller is the sequel to the 2018 film—Haseen Dillruba. Apart from Massey and Taapsee Pannu's dangerous love, this time we will again get to see another breathtaking love triangle with Sunny Kaushal. In the first installment, it was Harshvardhan Rane.
