Vikrant Massey is one of the most loved and famous actors in the Bollywood industry. The actor, who began his journey as a Television star, has done several acclaimed films. Vikrant recently received immense love and praise for his role as IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail. His latest release, The Sabarmati Report, is also doing great at the box office. Amid this, Vikrant shared a long post and hinted at a retirement from acting, leaving fans in disbelief. 

Vikrant Massey's post about sudden retirement from acting

On December 2, Vikrant Massey took to his Instagram account and dropped a note to announce his sudden retirement from acting. Known for his versatality, Massey's unexpected decision left fans and his colleagues in shock.

In his post, Vikrant wrote: “Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor."

He further added, "So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted."

Vikrant’s retirement comes during his recent successes. He has received praise for 12th Fail, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, and now The Sabarmati Report. The last movie even got praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Reacting to the post, Esha Gupta dropped red hearts. One fan wrote, "Why would you that.. ? 😮 There are hardly any actors like you. We need some good cinema." 

Another commented, "I hope it’s not true." A third fan shared, "Best wishes, come back stronger." "Why you want to become the next imran khan of bollywood 😭 we already lost one of the finest actors just because he chose family," one of the comments read. 

Another shocked fan said, "WHAT WHAT VIKRANT WHAT ARE YOU SAYING." One of his fans said, "Me who was getting addicted to his movies 🥲🥲anyways much love from Africa ❤️❤️...Respect ur decision sir !!"

Vikrant Massey on career choices

At the recently concluded 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Vikrant was honored with the Personality of the Year award. During the closing ceremony, he reflected on his career choices and said he always tries to work responsibly. 

"Whether it is 12th Fail, Sector 36, or The Sabarmati Report, there is always an effort to entertain people while also being part of responsible cinema," he added.
