Recently, Ethan Hawke expressed his concerns regarding the trend of casting actors based on their social media followings, to which Vikrant has responded.

During the Berlin Film Festival, Ethan Hawke discussed the issue of filmmakers selecting actors primarily due to their social media presence. He remarked, "It’s crazy," and recounted an experience where he was advised to cast an individual with 10 million followers, despite her lack of acting experience. 

He elaborated, "I genuinely empathize with these individuals. It’s quite challenging. Occasionally, while preparing a film, someone will suggest, ‘Oh, you should consider Suzie.’ I respond, ‘Who is she?’ ‘She has 10 million followers.’ I then ask, ‘Has she acted before?’ ‘No, but…’ And I think, ‘Wow, is this really going to facilitate the production of my film? This is absurd.'"

Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey also shared his thoughts on Instagram, stating, "This is now a global epidemic."

Vikrant Massey is set to appear in Aakhon Ki Gustaakhiyan alongside Shanaya Kapoor. The film, directed by Santosh Singh, who is recognized for his work on Broken But Beautiful and Apharan, features a screenplay by renowned writers Niranjan Iyengar and Mansi Bagla.

Produced by Mansi and Varun Bagla’s Mini Films, Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan represents their second partnership with Vikrant following the Forensic remake. The film is targeting a release in mid-2025, although official confirmation regarding the project remains undisclosed.
