Netflix India is expanding its collection of original content with the introduction of another anthology. Recent reports indicate that the acclaimed anthology series Lust Stories will be returning for a third season on the global streaming platform. This new season will continue to delve into themes of female sexuality through a range of engaging narratives.

Production and potential directors

The anthology will be produced by Ashi Dua's Flying Unicorn Entertainment in collaboration with Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies. According to reports from Peeping Moon, while no official confirmations have been made, it is rumored that esteemed directors such as Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra, and Vikramaditya Motwane are in preliminary discussions to direct the upcoming storylines. Although casting details have not been finalized, fans are eager to see a robust ensemble featuring some of Bollywood's most beloved actors in this new installment.

Lust Stories 3 aims to uphold the legacy of its predecessors by presenting four intriguing narratives that explore themes of love, desire, power, and social status. While staying true to the franchise's essence, the new season aspires to innovate by portraying authentic representations of strong women who boldly chase their dreams despite the obstacles in their emotional journeys. With a planned release on Netflix in the early part of the new year, filming is expected to commence in the first half of this year.

Franchise's bold exploration of modern relationships

The Lust Stories series boldly tackles contemporary relationships, examining complex sexual dynamics and troubled marriages from the viewpoint of Indian women.

The 2018 streaming season was directed by Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, and Dibakar Banerjee, featuring a talented ensemble cast that included Sanjay Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, Manisha Koirala, Kiara Advani, Radhika Apte, and Bhumi Pednekar.

Prominent actors such as Kajol, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vijay Varma, Mrunal Thakur, Tillotama Shome, Neena Gupta, and Amruta Subhash featured in "Lust Stories 2," which was released in 2023, five years after the original. The directors for the second season included R. Balki, Amit Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, and Konkona Sen Sharma.
