L2 Empuraan, the eagerly awaited Malayalam film featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran, is generating significant buzz beyond Kerala. Scheduled for release on March 27, 2025, it will coincide with the premiere of another South Indian film, Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran. Chiyaan Vikram has extended his best wishes to the Empuraan team and remarked on his ‘good friend’ Prithviraj Sukumaran's transition to directing with the successful 2019 film, Lucifer.
Chiyaan Vikram on Empuraan
This Thursday, Chiyaan Vikram's Veera Dheera Sooran will compete with Mohanlal’s Empuraan in theatres. In a recent interview, Vikram expressed his surprise at Prithviraj, a talented actor, taking on the role of director with Lucifer.
Vikram noted the challenges of directing while being an actor, stating, "Dhanush did it, and I was quite shocked to see Prithvi doing it in Lucifer." It is worth mentioning that both Vikram and Prithviraj have previously appeared together in the Mani Ratnam film, Raavanan.

In a demonstration of camaraderie between the two southern film industries, Chiyaan Vikram expressed, “I hope both Empuraan and Veera Dheera Sooran receive a warm welcome from audiences.”
The Tamil actor, who openly admires Lalettan, remarked, “I aspire for it to be the first Pan-India film and to set remarkable records for Malayalam cinema.”
Cast of Veera Dheera Sooran
Veera Dheera Sooran features Vikram in the lead role, supported by a talented cast that includes SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Dushara Vijayan. Notably, Suraj Venjaramoodu is making his debut in Tamil cinema with this Vikram-led project.
Additionally, Suraj Venjaramoodu will play a significant role in Empuraan. It is worth noting that he did not appear in the first installment of the Lucifer franchise, which was released in 2019 and achieved blockbuster success.

Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran, who appeared in the original film Lucifer, will return to their roles in the sequel. Additionally, the new instalment will introduce a variety of fresh talent from different industries, including Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, and Nikhat Khan.
There is considerable excitement surrounding the upcoming release of Empuraan, as fans eagerly anticipate that the sequel will address the numerous unresolved questions from Lucifer.
The Hindi-dubbed version of Lucifer can be streamed on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium.
