Vijay Varma is the man of the hour, making headlines for nearly everything around him. Currently, people are talking about his latest Netflix show, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which was released last week and has been in the spotlight ever since. While critics have generally praised the show, a section of the audience found the use of the names Shankar and Bhola as code names for terrorists to be Hinduphobic. However, it was soon revealed that these names were actually used in the real hijack. With that controversy now laid to rest, Vijay has also been in the news for his relationship with Tamannaah Bhatia. The actor has been quite open about his personal life and doesn’t shy away from discussing it.
Vijay Varma on Personal Life Making Headlines
Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia have been dating for a while. The two actors, both at the peak of their careers, have been vocal about their relationship and haven’t shied away from public displays of affection, which has endeared fans to their dynamic. However, the headlines haven’t always been positive, and some have crossed the line. In an exclusive conversation with OTTplay, Vijay spoke about whether the chatter surrounding his personal life ever affects his work.
Vijay Varma was in conversation with OTTplay alongside the team of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack , including Dia Mirza, Kumud Mishra, Anubhav Sinha, and Patralekhaa. When Vijay and Patralekhaa were asked about their personal lives being discussed in the headlines and whether it affects their work, Patralekhaa said, “I would like to think no. I think after a point, one needs to switch off. It should not seep through you.”
Vijay Varma, who has been open about his relationship with Tamannaah Bhatia, added, “I think the discussion around my life in the headlines has very little bearing on me. But it must be doing whatever it does to the people consuming it, which I have no control over. So, I don’t think or worry about it.”
Vijay Varma On Audience Reception
In the same exclusive conversation, Vijay also spoke about how he perceives audience reception while playing any character, particularly a real-life captain in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Vijay said, “I really do not bother myself with the kind of negative reactions that might occur. We all put in a lot of effort and direction, and our single focus is to tell the best story, do our best jobs, and be as sincere, disciplined, and efficient as we can. We can only do that if we believe it’s going to be good. If you take steps thinking about negative outcomes, you may not work with full conviction. Negative reactions are something I don’t want to prepare for in life!”
“I’ve done some seriously difficult roles on screen and played some very problematic men. I was scared, but then I realized people are far more intelligent and accepting of the characters I’ve created on screen than I initially imagined. I was actually scared when I did projects like Darlings (Netflix), SHE (Netflix), and Dahaad (Amazon Prime Video). I was worried about what would happen—would people be scared of me? I was so concerned that I didn’t post pictures of my family, my nieces, my nephews, or my mom. But eventually, I figured that people talk about the good parts of your work,” Vijay Varma added.
IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
