Vijay Vikram Singh, who co-starred with Vicky Kaushal in the film Chhaava, recounted an emotional moment during filming when Kaushal began to cry in the midst of a scene. In an interview with India Today, Vijay explained that the scene involved Vicky's character, Sambhaji Maharaj, being proclaimed the next Chhatrapati. Vijay portrayed Peshwa Neelopant in the film.

Vijay remarked, “There was a particular shot where Vicky Kaushal was announced as the next Chhatrapati. In that moment, he advanced forward, followed by Ashutosh Rana, Vineet Kumar, and myself. We had to redo the shot three times because Vicky became emotional and started crying. He was profoundly moved by the significance of stepping into the role of Sambhaji Maharaj as the new Chhatrapati."

Vijay prasied Vicky's dedication in Chhaava

"He was so deeply engaged with the character that he genuinely felt the burden of his father's loss and the significant responsibility he was about to assume." He also mentioned another scene that featured a montage of Vicky's walk, which exemplified his dedication to the role. "He truly embodied Sambhaji Maharaj while wearing that costume," he added.

Vijay further noted that despite coming from a non-Marathi background, Vicky excelled in his dialect, ensuring that he pronounced the Marathi dialogues correctly during rehearsals.

Released on February 14, the film has grossed over ₹400 crore at the box office, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. The narrative centers on the life of the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Vicky portraying the lead role.

Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife, Yesubai. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films and features Akshaye Khanna, Diana Penty, and Ashutosh Rana in significant roles.
