Puja Entertainment, established by Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani, is beginning to experience positive developments following a difficult 2024. Their recent romantic comedy, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, which premiered last week, has garnered a favorable response from viewers. Additionally, it has been revealed that they have resolved their disagreements with the prominent streaming service, Netflix.

Settlement between Puja Entertainment and Netflix

A source informed Bollywood Hungama that an agreement has been reached between the two parties. In order to resolve the conflict, Netflix compensated the Bhagnanis with a substantial sum. The exact figure remains known only to the senior executives, but it is reported to exceed Rs. 20 crore.

With the hope of a long and fruitful partnership, the insider continued that both Netflix and Vashu Bhagnani-Jackky Bhagnani have now decided to make a fresh start.

Origin of the legal dispute

Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani initiated legal proceedings against Netflix in September 2024, alleging that the streaming platform had misled them and failed to remit nearly Rs. 47.37 crore in outstanding payments. Their complaints pertained to the unpaid OTT rights for their films, "Mission Raniganj" and "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," which they reported to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police.

At that time, Senior Inspector Ravindra Avhad communicated to HT City that Netflix owed Vashu Bhagnani the sum of Rs. 47.37 crore. However, Netflix has not been cooperative, having failed to respond to two summonses and a formal letter. During their visit in April, the EOW documented the Bhagnanis' statements and collected all relevant documentation. Despite multiple requests from Netflix, no action was taken. Instead of sending Monika Shergill, the Content Head of Netflix India, the company dispatched lower-level staff to provide statements.

Netflix’s response to the allegations

Netflix has previously denied the allegations, asserting that they are entirely unfounded. In reality, Puja Entertainment is indebted to Netflix. To resolve this dispute, Netflix is working alongside the appropriate authorities and leveraging their extensive history of successful collaborations with the Indian creative sector.

Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani are now able to advance to the next stage of their partnership following the resolution of their legal dispute. Puja Entertainment is optimistic about a promising future, bolstered by its renewed collaboration with Netflix. This development enables the production company to focus on delivering exceptional entertainment to audiences worldwide as it prepares for its upcoming projects.
