Vasan Bala partnered with actress Alia Bhatt for the first time this year in the jailbreak thriller Jigra. Although the film received acclaim from critics, it struggled to perform well at the box office. A slight controversy arose during its release when Vasan's comment regarding producer Karan Johar providing Alia with an incomplete script was misinterpreted. The filmmaker has since shared his insights on collaborating with Alia, highlighting that she tends to indulge her directors.

Vasan Bala discusses his experience collaborating with Alia Bhatt

In a conversation with Mashable India, Vasan expressed, “I believe that every director I admire should have the chance to collaborate with Alia Bhatt. They will be indulged, and then their next film will face challenges.” He further remarked, “She does not have an entourage; she is always prepared. At times, I didn’t even need to articulate my vision for a scene; a simple gesture from me was sufficient for her to grasp what I required in that shot.”

The director also reminisced about a particular day on set when both he and Alia embraced a more relaxed atmosphere, contrasting with the otherwise serious tone of the film. "Typically, film sets are humorous, but this project was devoid of comedy, resulting in a rather sombre environment. On this particular day, we enjoyed a lighter mood, engaging in conversation and laughter," he noted.
