Comedian Varun Grover has cleverly addressed the escalating controversy surrounding Samay Raina's show, India's Got Latent, and Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks about it. With a touch of irony, Varun remarked that those who previously advised him against incorporating political themes into his comedy are now facing their own dilemmas.

Varun’s witty take on the controversy

Varun's humorous commentary on the situation was featured in his latest performance, a clip of which he shared on X, previously known as Twitter.

"Please refrain from recording because that is how the comedy industry operates, right? It involves new material. There is a comprehensive process. We write for about three to four months to create a one-hour show. After that, we tour across India with it. Once the tour concludes, we record it, upload it to YouTube, and then face the consequences," Varun stated.

His astute observation regarding the controversy elicited enthusiastic applause, as the audience responded with laughter and cheers.

He further emphasized, “There is a method to the madness. One should not interfere with the process... So, I kindly ask you not to record. I do not wish to end up in jail due to a low-quality phone video; I prefer to face the consequences for high-quality content that I share on my channel.”

Varun humorously remarked that he could not deny his presence. “I can’t say ‘This isn’t me, this is Samay Raina’,” he jested.

In further comments, Varun mentioned that some individuals had previously discouraged him from incorporating political themes into his comedy. “People advised me to remain neutral, warning that my show could face a ban... Those who made such claims have seen their own shows get cancelled,” he recounted.

At one point, he humorously critiqued Ranveer’s on-screen character BeerBiceps, stating, “His show should have been discontinued solely based on its name, and just look at the content that followed. It sounds like a pornstar from Gurgaon,” he quipped.

Regarding the controversy, Samay Raina’s program, India's Got Latent, has faced backlash following a comment made by guest Ranveer in the latest episode. Ranveer, known as BeerBiceps, made an inappropriate remark to a contestant, asking, "Would you prefer to watch your parents... or participate once and end it forever?"

This statement ignited significant outrage, resulting in a formal complaint against Ranveer, Samay, comedian Apoorva Mukhija, and the show's organizers. During a recent performance in Edmonton, Canada, his first since the controversy arose earlier this month, Samay humorously addressed the situation. A fan named Shubham Dutta shared his experience from the show, quoting Samay as saying, "'Perhaps my time is not good right now, but remember, friends, I am time itself.'"

In the meantime, the Supreme Court criticized the show and Ranveer but provided temporary relief from additional FIRs being filed against him.
