Actor Varun Dhawan has been under fire on social media, with people claiming he acted inappropriately towards his co-stars Alia Bhatt and Kiara Advani. In light of these accusations, Varun has stepped up to refute any suggestions of misconduct.
Varun finally speaks up
Varun tackled the topic while chatting on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast. When asked if he likes to be a bit cheeky with his female co-stars, he replied, “If it’s all in good fun and everyone’s comfortable, whether it’s a guy or a girl… I joke around with my male co-stars too, but no one ever talks about that.”
Over the years, Varun has dealt with some backlash on social media, especially after he was spotted holding Alia Bhatt's belly at a promotional event and giving Kiara a kiss on the cheek during a magazine shoot.
During the interview, when the Kiara incident came up, Varun said, “I’m happy you brought that up. It was all planned. Kiara and I both shared that clip. It was for a digital cover, and they wanted some action, so we set it up.”
Kiara seemed pretty taken aback by the kiss, but Varun just brushed it off, saying she's a great actress and that it was all part of the plan. He mentioned he's honest about when things are spontaneous.
There was this one time during the promotion of JugJugg Jeeyo when he jokingly tried to shove Kiara into a pool, and she was like, “Stop it, ya.”
In an interview, Varun explained, “I did that on purpose. It was all in good fun. It wasn’t planned. That’s just how I am, I guess.”
When asked about touching Alia’s belly, Varun clarified it was just a playful gesture, insisting it wasn’t flirting and that they’re just friends.
