Varun Dhawan is preparing for the launch of his forthcoming film, Baby John. Last week, the actor released an exhilarating trailer for the movie. Baby John serves as a Bollywood adaptation of the successful 2016 Tamil film, Theri. In a discussion with India Today, Varun clarified that Baby John is not a direct remake of the original film but should be regarded as an 'adaptation.'

What Varun said

In the course of the conversation, Varun remarked that when Atlee presented this film, there was a specific rationale behind it. He indicated that significant alterations to the film's geography were necessary. The intention was to approach it as an adaptation rather than a straightforward remake, and Varun believes that this objective has been successfully achieved.

'We're not running away from…'

He remarked that many of the frames and narrative perspectives differ significantly. Therefore, individuals anticipating a direct, book-by-book adaptation may find themselves disappointed, as the film does not adhere to that format. It is, rather, an adaptation. We acknowledge this distinction, emphasizing that it is indeed more of an adaptation.

Baby John is an action drama directed by Kalees, marking the Hindi production debut of Atlee, known for his work on Jawan. Varun portrays a police officer and single father, embodying a character who confronts challenges with courage. In a compelling moment, he asserts, "Mere jaise bohat aaye hoge, main pehali baar aaya hu," which translates to "Many like me might have come before, but I have come here for the first time," establishing the foundation for his heroic journey.

The film is set to be released in theatres this Christmas and features notable performances from Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh, and Jackie Shroff, along with a cameo appearance by Salman Khan.
