Director Bala, who is anticipating the release of his film Vanangaan featuring Arun Vijay in the lead role, is returning to the director's chair after a five-year hiatus. Initially, the film was set to star actor Suriya, known for his successful collaborations with Bala in films such as Pithamagan and Nandhaa. With Vanangaan slated for theatrical release on January 10, 2025, Bala has shared insights regarding Suriya's exit from the project and the subsequent casting of Arun Vijay.

Bala explains why Suriya dropped out of Vanangaan

It was previously announced that actor Bala is involved in a Tamil film named Vanangaan. Those who have been tracking the development of this project are aware that it initially featured Suriya in the leading role. The production team had unveiled the first look poster and filmed several scenes with Suriya. However, in a surprising development, Arun Vijay has taken over the lead role from Suriya. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on January 10, 2025.

In a recent interview, Bala discussed Suriya's departure from the project, stating that the decision was mutually agreed upon by both Suriya and himself. He explained, "We considered pursuing a different film. Filming with Suriya in live locations presents significant challenges due to the crowds. Our decision was never unilateral. In fact, if I have erred in any way, Suriya is fully entitled to bring it to my attention. I have granted him that freedom."

Who are all part of Vanangaan?

In addition to Arun Vijay, the film features a cast that includes Roshni Prakash, Samuthirakani, Mysskin, Ridha, Chhaya Devi, Bala Sivaji, Shanmugarajan, Yohan Chacko, Kavitha Gopi, Brindha Sarathy, Mai Pa Narayanan, Aruldas, Munish Sivagurunath, among others.

The technical team comprises cinematographer RB Gurudev and editor Sathish Suriya. The art direction for Vanangaan is led by RK Nagu, while GV Prakash is responsible for the film's musical score. The production of the film is supported by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions.
