Zakir Hussain's family confirms his demise news

The news of Zakir Hussain's passing circulated rapidly on Sunday, December 15. However, his family members refuted these claims, affirming that he was "very much alive."

On Monday morning, December 16, a statement from his family was provided to India Today, stating, "Zakir Hussain, one of the world’s most transcendent musicians, passed away from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in San Francisco at the age of 73."

"He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy cherished by countless music lovers around the globe, with an influence that will resonate for generations to come," the family remarked.

In discussing his accomplishments, Ustad Zakir Hussain elevated the art of tabla to an international platform, captivating audiences with his enchanting rhythms. Throughout his illustrious career, he received five Grammy Awards, including three at the 66th Grammy Awards earlier this year.
