Urvashi Rautela Clears Air on Temple Rumors, Accuses Media of Misrepresentation
26 days ago | 5 Views
Actor Urvashi Rautela has addressed the criticism she received following her statement about a 'temple in her name' located in Uttarakhand. This assertion was made during a recent interview, which led to her being ridiculed by some social media users for appearing 'delusional,' as well as facing condemnation from religious leaders for allegedly 'mocking' faith.
Urvashi Rautela clarifies her statement
On Saturday, the actor's team issued an official statement on her behalf to clarify her previous remarks. The statement read, "Urvashi Rautela mentioned that there is a temple named after me in Uttarakhand, not a temple dedicated to Urvashi Rautela. Nowadays, people do not listen attentively; upon hearing 'Urvashi' or 'temple,' they jump to the conclusion that individuals are worshipping Urvashi Rautela. Please watch this video carefully before commenting (sic)."
The actor emphasized the importance of fact-checking by both the public and the media before making any accusations. "It is crucial that before levying unfounded allegations or making disparaging remarks about anyone, the facts are properly verified. It is vital for everyone in society to treat one another with respect and understanding to ensure the protection of each individual's rights (sic)," the statement concluded.
What Urvashi had said
Earlier this week, in a discussion with Siddharth Kannan, Urvashi asserted that there exists a temple named after her in Uttarakhand, situated adjacent to the Badrinath temple. She remarked, “There is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand. If one visits Badrinath, there is a ‘Urvashi temple’ right next to it.” When the host inquired whether visitors come to the temple to seek blessings, Urvashi chuckled and replied, “Ab mandir hai toh woh hi toh karenge (It’s a temple, they will do that).”
However, the statement did not sit well with the priests and local residents, who regard the temple as sacred. Many have called for governmental intervention, claiming that her comments have offended religious sentiments.
The Urvashi Temple is linked to a prominent figure in Hindu mythology, Goddess Sati, who is deeply venerated and recognized as one of the 108 Shaktipeeths. According to tradition, the temple was established at the location where Goddess Sati's body is said to have fallen.
