Samay Raina's program, India's Got Latent, has faced considerable backlash after its most recent episode featuring YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. A formal complaint has been filed against both parties regarding the alleged use of 'abusive language' during the episode. In light of the criticism, Uorfi Javed has openly voiced her support for her 'friend' Samay Raina, asserting that although the comments made during the panel discussion were certainly 'distasteful,' they do not justify imprisonment.

What Uorfi said

Uorfi shared her perspective on her Instagram Stories, articulating: “It is natural to have negative feelings towards certain people or their behaviours and statements, but is it truly reasonable to advocate for their incarceration? Are you genuinely serious? I find myself in doubt. Samay is a friend, and I stand by him; nonetheless, the comments made by the other panel members were certainly out of line, yet I do not think they justify imprisonment.”

Uorfi previously appeared as a guest on the show during one of its episodes. She decided to exit the program after several contestants made inappropriate comments about her in front of the audience. At that time, she emphasized that Samay had provided her with support and that there were no negative feelings between them. She remarked, “In no way do I blame @maisamayhoon! He is a friend; my concerns are directed at the contestants! The entire team came to comfort me. Samay has treated me kindly ever since.” Furthermore, Samay has also been featured on Uorfi's show, Follow Kar Lo Yaar, which debuted last year.

About the controversy on India's Got Latent

During his appearance on the episode of Samay’s show, India’s Got Latent, Ranveer posed a controversial question to a contestant: "Would you rather see your parents engage in sexual activity every day for the rest of your life, or experience it once and have it cease permanently?" This statement incited considerable backlash on social media, leading Ranveer to apologize and request that the show's producers remove the inappropriate segments from the broadcast.

In reaction, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) released a statement demanding strict action against the two individuals involved and called for an immediate ban on the show. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commented that while freedom of expression is vital, it must have its limits. Furthermore, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed her intention to raise the issue in parliament.
