Actor Unni Mukundan is currently on the promotional trail for his latest Malayalam film, Get-Set Baby. He recently stopped by a multiplex to meet fans and watch the movie. While many clips from the event highlight his joy in receiving fan affection, one particular video where he seemed annoyed with a fan really stood out.

Unni Mukundan grabs a fan's phone

A video shared on an X (formerly Twitter) account captures Unni strolling with his crew as two fans attempt to film him from both sides. When one fan got too close and shoved their phone in his face, the actor appeared to snap. He grabbed the phone from the fan, stuffed it in his pocket, and started to walk off. But then the fan stopped him and retrieved the phone from his pocket, which seemed to annoy him even more. Some viewers found it hilarious, while others questioned why he was so bothered.

Somebody on X shared their thoughts that Unni could have been a bit nicer, saying, “You should be encouraging them during the early days, not getting annoyed when they come up to you now.” On the flip side, another person felt he was justified in taking the phone away, saying, “There’s a limit. What he did was right. He could’ve shoved the phone right up the hero’s nose, lol.” One fan chimed in with, “Marco, what’s going on here?” while another added, “Just be glad he didn’t toss the phone.” A few others speculated it was all for show, commenting, “But there’s already another camera filming this… haha, classic celebrity stunts for social media.”

Unni made his acting debut in the 2011 Tamil movie Seedan, but it was the 2012 film Mallu Singh that really put him on the map. Since then, he’s been busy appearing in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films like D Company, Janatha Garage, Bhaagamathie, and Bro Daddy. In 2024, he starred in Jai Ganesh, Garudan, and Marco. Marco premiered on Sony LIV and Aha in Telugu, raking in ₹60.27 crore net in India and ₹102.55 crore globally, as reported by Sacnilk. His latest flick, Get-Set Baby, just hit theaters this Friday.
