Unni Mukundan is enjoying the success of his recent Malayalam film, Marco. The actor has expressed his views on the need for improved distribution of Malayalam cinema in Hindi-speaking areas to enhance the commercial performance of these films. In a recent interview with Anmol Jamwal on his YouTube channel, Unni emphasized the importance of addressing the 'budget' of these films promptly.

During the interview, Unni addressed the issue by stating that the primary factor is the budget. He emphasized the necessity of having successful examples to bolster the endeavour. According to him, action films tend to achieve commercial success more readily, as they are generally more accessible to a broader audience.

He further elaborated that producing a high-end action film requires the involvement of a star who is committed to the project. It is essential to ensure that the star is well-supported and that the film is presented in a way that transcends regional limitations. A script that has the potential to engage a larger audience is crucial. Additionally, attracting a wider audience necessitates a dynamic producer who shares the actor's enthusiasm for advancing the film. This success is the result of a collaborative effort involving multiple factors.

Recently, IE reported that the Kerala Film Producers’ Association disclosed that out of 199 Malayalam films produced in 2024, only 26 achieved success. With the total production costs amounting to ₹1000 crore, only ₹300 crore was recouped, leading to a substantial loss of ₹700 crore.
