The fire was finally put out after almost four hours at 1:49 am on Tuesday, according to officials. Udit Narayan mentioned that the fire department did everything they could to control the flames. “The fire started around 9 pm. I live on the 11th floor in A wing, and the blaze erupted in B wing. We all evacuated and stayed on the property for about three to four hours. It was really scary; anything could have happened. I’m thankful to the universe and our supporters that we’re safe,” Udit shared.
“This whole experience has taken a toll on me mentally, and I know it’ll take some time to process. Hearing about such incidents is one thing, but being in the middle of it really shows you how tough it can be,” the singer added.
Udit's neighbour dies
A senior citizen passed away and another person was hospitalized due to suffocation from a fire in a Mumbai building where famous Bollywood singer Udit Narayan resides, according to officials.
Two individuals were affected by smoke inhalation from the fire and were quickly taken to Kokilaben Hospital. One of them, 75-year-old Rahul Mishra, was pronounced dead on arrival, while the other, 38-year-old Raunak Mishra, was released against medical advice after receiving initial care.
The fire was limited to the electrical wiring, installations, and personal belongings in the apartment, as stated by another official. The fire brigade suspects that a short circuit may have caused the blaze, but they are still investigating the exact cause.
Sources indicated that five people were in the duplex flat when the fire started. Three individuals, including household staff, managed to escape without injury. Fire brigade officials noted that the building's firefighting system was not operational, making their efforts to combat the fire a bit challenging due to the condition of the internal staircase in the duplex.
On a different note, Udit has been busy in the studio, recording updated versions of his classic hits, including "Papa Kehte Hai (Reprise)" from Srikanth last year, and "Main Nikla Gaddi" and "Udd Ja Kale" from Gadar 2 in 2023.
