The situation surrounding Allu Arjun's arrest in relation to a fan's death at the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule has taken a new turn. The husband of the deceased, Revathi, has expressed his willingness to withdraw the case, stating that he does not hold Allu Arjun accountable for the stampede or his wife's demise.
Statement from victim's husband
In a conversation with reporters shortly after Allu Arjun's arrest in Hyderabad on Friday, Bhaskar, Revathi's husband, remarked, "We attended the Sandhya Theatre that day solely because my son wished to see the film. It is not Allu Arjun's fault for being present at the theatre. I am prepared to retract my case. The police did not notify me of his arrest; I learned about it through the news while at the hospital. He (Arjun) is not responsible for the stampede."
Notably, Allu Arjun's arrest was initiated based on Bhaskar's complaint. On Friday morning, Hyderabad Police officials arrived at Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills and took him into custody. He was subsequently transported to the police station for questioning, as stated by the police. Later, the actor was taken to Osmania General Hospital for a medical examination before being presented in court.
Why was Allu Arjun arrested
On the evening of December 4, a significant number of fans gathered at the Sandhya Theatre at RTC Crossroads to catch a glimpse of the actor, who was there to view his film, Pushpa 2: The Rule. This led to a stampede-like scenario, resulting in one woman's death and her son being hospitalized in critical condition.
The police reported that a case was filed against the actor, his security personnel, and the theatre management at the Chikkadpally police station under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint from the deceased's family. Allu Arjun has approached the High Court to seek the quashing of the FIR, with the court scheduled to hear his petition later on Friday.
