The recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence left the entire film industry shaken and sparked concerns about security. Saif was discharged from Lilavati Hospital last week. Now, Twinkle Khanna has responded to the incident, calling out the absurd reactions that followed. In her column for The Times of India, she criticized the "ridiculous rumours" that unfairly blamed Saif's wife, Kareena Kapoor, for not being present during the attack.

What Twinkle said

In her column, Twinkle expressed: "Following Saif Ali Khan's stabbing, a sense of vulnerability has spread across homes everywhere. After a phase of detaining every seemingly frail man and even some on Ozempic, the police have finally apprehended the attacker. While Saif was recovering in the hospital, absurd rumours began circulating that his wife wasn't at home or was too intoxicated to assist him during the assault. Despite the lack of any evidence, these baseless theories persisted. Sadly, people seemed to take pleasure in blaming the wife — a pattern we're all too familiar with."

‘They’ll blame you for not handling him right’

Twinkle continued her thoughts on the matter, writing, “This issue is far-reaching, affecting not just public figures but everyone. If your husband gains weight, it’s because you're not taking care of his health; if he loses too much, it’s because you're not feeding him properly. If your home is untidy, you're lazy; if it's too clean, you're a control freak. If you work, you're too ambitious; if you don't, you're deemed useless. If he's caring, people say you've manipulated him; if he's indifferent, they'll blame you for not managing him well. Just last week, at a small family gathering, one relative joked, ‘All my five uncles are bald, and the only one who still has hair is the one who's not married.’ Apparently, wives are now responsible for baldness too. In this scenario, I guess it's safe to say that behind every man, whether a success or a failure, there’s a woman who's ready to be blamed, at a moment’s notice, or for any reason.”

Kareena, who was away from her residence when the attack on Saif occurred, had shared pictures of her night out with friends, including actor Sonam Kapoor, on her Instagram Stories that evening.

The incident reportedly began when the intruder confronted Saif's maid at his residence, and when Saif tried to intervene, it escalated into a violent confrontation, leaving him with several stab wounds.

Kareena had earlier addressed the situation on Instagram, saying, "It has been an incredibly challenging day for our family, and we are still processing the events. During this difficult time, I kindly ask the media and paparazzi to stop the incessant speculation and coverage."
