Triptii Dimri was set to team up again with her Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 co-star Kartik Aaryan for Aashiqui 3. They announced it last year, and it was said that they even filmed a muhurat shot together. But then, out of the blue on Tuesday, it was revealed that Triptii is no longer involved in the film. The reasons behind this change are unclear, with both sides giving different stories.

Triptii exited the film due to delay, says report

On Tuesday, Mid-Day shared that Triptii won’t be starring in Aashiqui 3 anymore. A source mentioned, “Triptii was really looking forward to leading the romance, but that’s off the table now. Aashiqui 3 is caught up in a [title]-related issue, so it’s been put on hold indefinitely.” The report suggested that Triptii chose to step away from the project because of the shooting delays.

Source says Aashiqui 3 makers removed her from film

An industry insider has revealed that the producers of Aashiqui 3 decided against casting the actress after her initial screen test. According to the source, "To be the leading lady in Aashiqui 3, you need to embody a sense of innocence. The team feels that Triptii Dimri, with her recent roles, has become too exposed for a romantic film that requires a pure demeanor from its female lead."

The insider also mentioned that Triptii's image shift following her role in Animal is a key reason the producers believe she doesn't fit the role. "Aashiqui is a classic, heartfelt love story, and the makers don’t see Triptii meeting their criteria. Since Animal, there hasn’t been much buzz around her, and her recent films haven’t performed well at the box office," the source added.

As of now, neither Triptii nor the production team has made an official comment on the situation, making it tough to determine the exact truth or if it lies somewhere in the middle.

Industry sources suggest that the reality might be a blend of both sides, with the actress not wanting to wait and the producers now seeking a 'fresher' face. When Triptii was initially cast, she was relatively new, but the delays in filming have allowed her to appear in two additional movies.

Aashiqui 3 was originally set to be co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt. But in March 2024, Bhushan Kumar revealed that he would be the sole producer and renamed the film Tu Aashiqui Hai. Then in November, there were reports that Kartik wanted it to be included in the Aashiqui franchise, which caused some delays in production. Anurag Basu is set to direct the film.
