Triptii Dimri on Navigating Criticism: "I Can't Let the Noise Affect Me"
2 months ago | 5 Views
Actor Triptii Dimri's career really took off with her supporting role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, marking her big break into the mainstream. Even though her performance faced some criticism, she handled it like a pro. In a recent interview, she shared that the backlash doesn't faze her at all.
What was her response?
In a chat with Forbes India, Triptii opened up about the criticism she received for her performances in Animal and Bad Newz, stating that she has no regrets about her choices. She mentioned, “I’m the kind of person who gives it my all. If a character or story grabs my attention, I want to dive in completely. I’ve learned that sometimes things work out, and sometimes they don’t. Not everyone will be a fan. Some will love what you do, and others won’t. You can’t let that noise get to you. You’ve got to trust your instincts and pursue what feels right. You might look back later and think it was a mistake, but at that moment, you were being true to yourself.”
When asked if she’s trying to move away from her “overtly sexualized” image, Triptii clarified that’s not the case. She explained, “I’m just going with the flow. My goal is to take on diverse roles because I don’t want to show up on set feeling bored. I want to be challenged and think, ‘How will I pull this off?’—and then make it happen. It’s important for me to feel fulfilled as an actor when I head home.”
Regarding her choice to play Zoya in Animal, Triptii said she was drawn to the role because she wanted to try something new, noting that she took on the part of Vidya in Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video for the same reason.
Triptii's project timeline
There were some rumors going around that Triptii got dropped from Kartik Aaryan’s Aashiqui 3 because she was considered ‘too exposed.’ Reports suggested the filmmakers were looking for someone with a ‘purer vibe’ for the part. But the director, Anurag Basu, shot down those claims, telling Mid-Day, “That’s not true, and Triptii knows it too.”
In the meantime, Triptii is now focusing on Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara, which was initially set to feature Kartik but will now star Shahid Kapoor. She’s also gearing up to start filming for Dhadak 2 with Dharma Productions, directed by Shazia Iqbal, where she’ll be acting alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi.
