Netflix India has recently unveiled its impressive lineup for 2025, featuring a range of high-profile projects such as The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Delhi Crime 3, Nadaaniyan, among others. Notably absent from this grand announcement in Mumbai was the spy thriller Afghan Snow, starring Triptii Dimri and Vijay Varma. This series, produced by Karnesh Sharma's Clean Slate Filmz, was reportedly submitted to the streaming platform in December 2023. Its omission from the slate announcement raises questions. Let us explore the reasons behind this.
Update on Triptii Dimri and Vijay Varma's Afghan Snow
A report from Mid-Day indicates that the streaming giant is contemplating alterations to the spy thriller starring Triptii Dimri and Vijay Varma. The series has been helmed by director Anshai Lal. An actor involved in the project has provided an update regarding these developments.
Afghan Snow has been acquired by Netflix, and the production team is considering re-editing the series and potentially filming additional segments as they see necessary. It is anticipated that the release will occur later this year. Furthermore, numerous titles are expected to be added to the streaming platform's lineup beyond those disclosed on Monday, according to an anonymous actor.
Several sources have informed the tabloid that the series was completed in December 2023. However, it appears there were some creative disagreements between the streaming service and the production team. Reports indicate that crew members faced challenges with delayed payments.
"Our payments took an extended period to be processed. While some individuals eventually received their full compensation, many of us will only receive the final payment upon the show's release. We had anticipated the announcement to be made on Monday evening," a member of the Afghan Snow team revealed. Regarding Karnesh's production company, Clean Slate Filmz is expected to be rebranded under a new name.
Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix India's association
Clean Slate Filmz has previously engaged in fruitful partnerships with Netflix India, producing notable works such as Bulbul and Qala. The outcome of their latest project, Afghan Snow, is yet to be determined.
