A significant amount of cake cutting took place at the Akhtar residence on Wednesday evening. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar posted a charming photograph featuring three members of her extended family celebrating their birthdays simultaneously.

Triple celebration

On Thursday morning, Zoya posted a photograph featuring her brother, the multifaceted Farhan Akhtar, who is an actor, filmmaker, and singer, positioned at the centre. He is seen smiling with his eyes closed, dressed in a black t-shirt. To his left is their cousin, filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, who celebrated her 60th birthday on the same day and shares her birthday with Farhan. Farah, also with her eyes closed, appears joyful in a navy blue kurti. On Farhan's right, his sister-in-law, former VJ Anusha Dandekar, who is the sister of his wife, actor Shibani Dandekar, is seen holding his arm. Anusha is dressed in a matching black outfit and is smiling broadly. In front of them, three birthday cakes adorned with candles are placed on the table.

Zoya accompanied the image with the caption, “Bring It In (red heart emoji).” She included several engaging hashtags: ‘Birthday babies,’ ‘All number 9,’ ‘Capricornia,’ referencing their astrological sign, ‘Three’s company,’ and ‘Hum cake khane ke liye kahin bhi ja sakte hain’ (We can go anywhere to eat cake), quoting a well-known line from Farhan's iconic 2001 directorial debut, Dil Chahta Hai. Notably, Zoya worked as an assistant director on that film, while Farah contributed as the choreographer.

Farah responds

Farhan expressed his sentiments on Zoya's post, stating, “Awwwww best birthday bringing in.. thank you zoeeyyyy (red heart emoji) lov my family.” Notable actors Huma Qureshi and Siddhant Chaturvedi, along with Shweta Bachchan, also contributed red heart emojis in the comments. Additionally, Farah shared the image on her Instagram Stories, captioning it, “To all the capri 9's… happy birthday.” She extended her gratitude to Zoya, Shibani, and her aunt, the esteemed screenwriter Honey Irani, for “bringing it in so beautifully.”

Furthermore, Farah uploaded a Reel showcasing Farhan unwrapping his birthday present from her. Farhan burst into laughter upon discovering a DVD of Manoj Kumar's 1981 historical drama Kranti, which Farah noted in her caption is his favorite film. In the video, Farhan began to sing the title track of Kranti. Farah captioned the post, “What do you gift your little brother who has everything?? A piece of our childhood of course! Happy birthday @faroutakhtar #capri9 keep the kranti going #favouritefilm.”

On the work front, Farah last choreographed the title song of Ishq Vishk Rebound last year. Farhan will be next seen in 120 Bahadur and will return to direction with Don 3. Meanwhile, Zoya last co-produced the docuseries Angry Young Men.
