Tovino Thomas on Marco’s success
Tovino Thomas recently discussed the film Marco, which showcased Unni Mukundan in a fierce role and elaborated on the reasons behind its success as the most violent Malayalam film to date.
"Marco is an excellent film. The strong performances, coupled with its technical proficiency, made the violence appear authentic. I believe the film's success cannot be attributed solely to its violent content," Tovino remarked during a press conference following the release of his film Identity, featuring Trisha Krishnan, on January 2, 2025.
Tovino emphasized that cinema fundamentally revolves around the concept of make-believe, noting that the creators of Marco have adeptly managed to convey this on screen. He remarked that regardless of the emotions depicted, success hinges on the ability to convincingly engage the audience.
Marco, which incorporates intense action and violence previously unseen in Malayalam cinema, is receiving praise from various regions across the country, with its dubbed versions in Hindi and Telugu also resonating with viewers. Directed by Haneef Adeni, the film features performances by Kabir Duhan Singh, Siddique, Abhimanyu Thilakan, and Jagadish.
