Title Clash: Vijay Antony Challenges Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi as Rights Dispute Heats Up

It's a title showdown! On Wednesday, January 29, two Tamil films dropped their titles, and what a coincidence it is! Vijay Antony's new movie is called Parashakthi in Telugu, and just a few hours later, Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara announced that their highly awaited SK W5 will also be named Parasakthi.

Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Antony are going head-to-head for Parasakthi

Parasakthi is a name that resonates with movie lovers, especially those into classic films. It refers to the iconic 1952 Tamil movie featuring Sivaji Ganesan, famous for its powerful climax monologue.

Recently, two new Tamil films announced they would use the name Parasakthi, albeit with slight variations in spelling. Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara's film will go with Parasakthi, while Vijay Antony's film has opted for Parashakthi as its title in Telugu. Both films also mark the 25th project for their lead actors.

Vijay Antony mentioned that they officially registered the title back in July 2024 with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, which could mean Sivakarthikeyan's film might need a new title.

However, there's an interesting twist: AVM Productions, which holds the rights to the original 1952 film, announced they’re willing to transfer the title to Dawn Pictures, the producers of Sivakarthikeyan's movie. They also extended their congratulations to Sudha Kongara and her team for their project.

Here's a different take on that: A little info on Parasakthi and Parashakthi

The movie starring Sivakarthikeyan has actor Ravi Mohan playing the villain for the first time, with Atharvaa Murali taking on an important role. Sreeleela, known for her work in Telugu films, is set to make her Tamil cinema debut.

Directed by Arun Prabhu Purushotaman, this film will also be available in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. The cast features experienced actors like Vaagai Chandrasekar, Sunil Kriplani, Cell Murugan, Trupthi Ravindra, and young talent Master Keshav, among others. It's currently in the final stages of post-production.
