Following a misfire on Tuesday morning, Govinda shot himself in the leg, and a hospital near his Juhu apartment treated him. The incident occurred at 4:45 am, according to his daughter, Tina Ahuja, who drove him to the hospital in their car.
Daughter Tina Ahuja details the incident
In an interview with the Bombay Times, she shared that Govinda had a job in Kolkata and stashed his licensed revolver in a secure cabinet in preparation for his flight. It was unintentional; the handgun had fallen from his grasp and fired. The bullet struck the front of his left leg, between the knee and the ankle. He lost a lot of blood, so she took him to the nearest hospital right away.
Fortunately, Govinda had a crew ready to get to the airport, including a driver, so that was a huge relief. Despite his current stability following the removal of the bullet, he will remain under intensive care unit surveillance for at least another day, according to the doctors. A few weeks of relaxation will be required of him after his discharge.
Some news outlets stated that the incident occurred when Govinda was cleaning the gun. He was merely storing it in the cabinet, not cleaning it, Tina clarified. The actor recorded a voice memo to clarify the circumstances surrounding his dismissal to prevent rumors about his accident from spreading.
Govinda's statement and gratitude
Govinda proclaimed, "Namashkaar, main hoon Govinda. Aap sab logon ka aashirwaad, maa, baap aur guru ki krupa ke wajah se... mujhe jo goli lagi thi, woh nikaal di gayi hai. Main dhanyawad deta hoon yahan ke doctor kaa, aadarniya Doctor Agarwaal ji ka aur aap sab logon ki praartahana jo hai... aap logon ka dhanyawaad (Hello, I am Govinda. With the blessings of all of you, my parents, and my guru's grace, the bullet that I was hit with has been removed. I thank the doctor here, the honourable Doctor Agarwaal, and all of you for your prayers. Thank you all.)
The actor's son, Yash, was overseas at the time of the tragedy, while his wife, Sunita, was in Jaipur. They set out for Mumbai the moment word got out.
