Tillotama Shome, recognized for her exceptional acting skills, particularly in recent productions such as Pataal Lok 2, moved many on the internet to tears today as she expressed her solidarity. The actress shared a distressing experience involving a producer that brought her to tears, prompting social media to rally around her.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, she recounted a moment when a director told her she would never achieve significant financial success. Overcome with emotion, she shared how she ultimately proved that filmmaker mistaken by advocating for her value in her subsequent project.

‘You would never get that much money'

It was a stark contrast to a director I previously collaborated with, who compensated me very poorly. During the wrap party, while we were engaged in conversation, someone inquired, "What is something you truly desire?" I mentioned a specific car that had a certain price tag, stating, "If I were to work on a film that paid me this amount, I could purchase that car," she recounted.

The director then interjected, "I regret to inform you, but you will likely never earn that level of income. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the reality of this industry. You possess great talent, yet regrettably, you will not achieve that kind of financial success." He delivered this message in a manner that seemed well-intentioned, but it left a lasting impression on me,” she reflected.

Tillotama fought for her worth in the next project

Tillotama recounted how she discovered her next project, which exceeded her expectations. However, she remained steadfast and engaged in negotiations for four months. She advocated for a higher payment and ultimately secured double the amount she had initially proposed at the party. Additionally, she took the opportunity to inform the previous director that she had proven him wrong, stating, "I thought you should be aware before advising another actor on their capabilities."

During her appearance on the show with Jim Sarbh, the two discussed their friendship. Tillotama expressed her gratitude for her friends, including Sarbh, who have consistently recognized her value and encouraged her to stand up for what is right. The pair recently worked together on "Baksho Bandhi," a Bengali film produced by Jim, in which Tillotama played a significant role.
