Tigmanshu Dhulia Remembers Making Poor Tea for Shah Rukh Khan in 1994

Director Tigmanshu Dhulia recently recounted a humorous episode from more than thirty years ago, during which he served 'bohot ghatiya (very bad)' tea to actor Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview with the news agency ANI, Tigmanshu revealed that at that time, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was residing in Mumbai and had begun working on a film that included Shah Rukh Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, and Suniel Shetty.
When Tigmanshu met Shah Rukh in 1994
Tigmanshu Dhulia reminisced about his experience in 1994 when he served as an assistant to Shekhar. He recounted the occasion when he prepared tea for Shah Rukh while they collaborated on the script at Shekhar's apartment, which the actor had also frequented. Dhulia noted that following the completion of Bandit Queen, Shekhar spent approximately one and a half to two years in Mumbai before transitioning to international projects.
Tigmanshu on making ‘horrible’ tea for Shah Rukh
Numerous films were initiated but subsequently put on hold. One such project was "Maut Se Jo Darte Nahin," featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Nasser Bhai, and Sunil Shetty. Consequently, we began writing the script. Shah Rukh even visited Shekhar's apartment. I recall making tea for him, he reminisced.
"I prepared it in the microwave... I had no idea how to use it. Shekhar told me, 'Go ahead and make some tea.' It was my first experience seeing a microwave. This was back in '94. Even now, I believe I must have made a terrible cup of tea for Shah Rukh," he continued.
