Thursday is Eid and Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh has been busy from the early morning. People are used to seeing him on the screen as Nawab or Neel.

Rezwan has shifted to his new flat from Khidderpore’s house. He celebrates Eid here for the first time. This is the day of sumptuous meals after a month-long fasting. Rezwan took a leave from shooting and is spending the day with his family.

Rezwan told Hindustan Times Bangla, “I will stay at home all day. I went to Tipu Sultan Mosque and offered namaaz in the morning. This year Eid is special because my brother came to Kolkata. My friends will come to my home. I will spend time with them and have food.”

Having namaz and observing Ramadan is important to the actor. In the iftar at Badhua’s shoot, the chicken stew cooked by Rezwan became famous. He said, “I kept all 30 days of Roja this year. After the entire day’s shooting, I don’t like oily or spicy food. But I need protein. Hence the chicken stew. I did not know people would like it so much. The whole unit waited for when it would come and they would get the taste of it.”

Rezwan’s Eid meant the biryani cooked by his mother. This time is no exception. He said, “Eid means no diet restriction for the day. Mom’s biryani, laccha semai, sheer-khurma, paratha, or chap, I love everything. And yes, I adore dahi-vada also. Today I will eat everything. This is a cheat-meal day.”

Rezwan said, “I made the kurta beforehand. But my brother did my Eid shopping. Getting gifts is special to me. This time, the whole family is together. This is our first Eid in our new flat and this is also a reason for excitement.”

What were the special things about childhood Eid to Rezwan? The actor said, “I used to buy ice-cream in my childhood with Eid money. There was a competition among the kids about who had how much money and who had glittery money. Going to namaz wearing a kurta in the morning, and coming back to have a new shirt, that excitement – these memories are unforgettable.”
