‘The White Lotus’ Star Moved to Tears in London After SNL Segment

Aimee Lou Wood, known for her role in The White Lotus, expressed her dissatisfaction with the portrayal of her in a recent Saturday Night Live sketch. She took to her Instagram stories to share her thoughts, describing the show as "mean and unfunny." It appears that the incident has had a lasting impact on her, as she was spotted in tears on the streets of London.
According to TMZ, Aimee seemed visibly upset by the SNL skit that mocked her teeth. She was photographed in a distressed state while walking through London, struggling to cope with her emotions. At one point, she was seen crying and attempting to conceal her disappointment. Accompanying her was Ralph Davis, a writer from Film Club, who was offering her comfort and support during this difficult time.
What happened in the SNL skit
Saturday Night Live created a parody of the HBO series The White Lotus, titled The White Potus. The sketch humorously targeted U.S. President Donald Trump, his wife Melania, and their family. Aimee's character, Chelsea, was portrayed by actress Sarah Sherman, who adopted a distinctive accent and wore exaggerated fake teeth.
Aimee's reaction
Aimee addressed the issue on her Instagram stories, stating, “I found the SNL segment to be unkind and lacking humor. (I felt justified in my feelings, though I might remove this later),” she expressed. In a subsequent post, she remarked, “It’s unfortunate because I truly enjoyed watching it a few weeks ago. Yes, satire is part of the show’s essence, but surely there’s a more intelligent, nuanced, and less superficial approach?”
The actress mentioned that SNL had issued an apology to her and clarified that she does not hold Sarah responsible. “This will be my final comment on the subject. I am not overly sensitive. In fact, I appreciate clever humor that pokes fun at me in a lighthearted manner. However, the joke centered around fluoride. I have prominent gap teeth, not poor dental health. I don’t mind being caricatured—I recognize that’s part of SNL’s style. Yet, the remainder of the skit was aimed at those in power, while I and Chelsea were the only ones targeted in a derogatory manner... That’s all I have to say,” she concluded in her post.
