Korean-American actor Daniel Henney holds a profound admiration for India and its rich culture, a sentiment that has intensified following his collaboration with Priyanka Bose on the series The Wheel of Time. He shared that he intended to visit India 15 years ago, but that journey never came to fruition. Since then, the desire to explore India has remained a prominent goal on his bucket list.

Daniel discussed the upcoming third season of The Wheel of Time and how working alongside Priyanka Bose has greatly enhanced his connection to India.

On working with Priyanka Bose

In The Wheel of Time, Daniel portrays the character Lan Mandragoran, while Priyanka takes on the role of Alanna Mosvani. Reflecting on their collaboration, Daniel shares, “I have had the pleasure of working with Priyanka for three seasons now, and she has become one of my favorite cast members. Her personality is the most vibrant among the entire ensemble.

“She has expressed a desire for all of us to visit her. I had plans to travel to India approximately 15 years ago, but I encountered difficulties obtaining a visa while coming from Singapore. I was genuinely looking forward to that trip, but for various reasons, it was ultimately canceled. Visiting India remains on my bucket list, and I am eager to go,” he continues.

In a lighthearted manner, Daniel adds, “Perhaps you could extend an invitation, and I would love to join you for dinner.”

On his love for India

Daniel articulates his profound admiration for India, highlighting its rich culture and exquisite cuisine. He states, "I have a deep appreciation for the culture and the food. The people are remarkably intelligent, sophisticated, and graceful."

"Priyanka has expressed her desire to invite us to India to collaborate on films there. I am still awaiting that call. We maintain regular communication, although I do not see her as often as I would prefer. Additionally, I would be thrilled to travel to India for work. I am captivated by the energy, excitement, and vibrancy of Indian cinema. It would be a privilege," shares Daniel, who entered the world of glamour as a model and achieved significant success in the Korean entertainment industry in 2005 with the comedy My Lovely Sam Soon.

On The Wheel of Time season three

The series is adapted from the fantasy novels of Robert Jordan. Drawing from the fourth instalment, The Shadow Rising, the third season continues to depict the treacherous journey of Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, alongside the formidable women who seek to guide him.

This season will transport viewers beyond Tar Valon to various new locales and cities throughout the fictional Westlands, including the expansive deserts of the Aiel Waste, the alluring yet perilous port city of Tanchico, and the ancient, fog-laden city of Rhuidean, which is shrouded in mystery. The third season premiered on Prime Video on March 13.

For Daniel, participating in the third season was a remarkable experience. “After 7-8 months of filming, I find myself wanting to relive it all. Most of my shooting took place in South Africa and Prague, which was truly amazing,” he shares.

He adds, “What I cherish most about our show is the opportunity to explore these incredible locations and immerse myself in them.”

Reflecting on his experience, Daniel acknowledges that mastering the "challenging action sequences" posed a significant hurdle for him.

“They have become easier as I have improved my swordsmanship and physical skills, which I take great pride in. Initially, it was quite difficult for me. We also had some emotionally demanding scenes for Lan, which were challenging as well,” he concludes.
