Atlee, the producer of Baby John, the Hindi version of his Tamil film Theri, is actively engaged in promoting the movie across the country. The director, whose previous film Jawan featuring Shah Rukh Khan achieved significant commercial success, shared insights into his success during an interview with Pinkvilla, discussing the reasons behind the box office success of all his films.

The success of my films can be attributed to this reason.

Atlee may have directed only six films thus far, yet each of them has achieved remarkable success at the box office. The director shared with the publication that embracing risks and effectively capturing the essence of 'mass' has been instrumental in his films' financial achievements. He recounted how, in both Bigil and Theri, actor Vijay placed his trust in him while portraying an older character.

Atlee further remarked, “For instance, when I approached Shah Rukh Khan sir regarding Jawan, I assured him that Vikram Rathore would resonate as a mass character. He initially responded by saying that Azad would appeal more to the audience. I confidently replied, 'Just wait and see, sir.' After viewing the film, he acknowledged that I was correct,” alluding to the popularity of the older character portrayed by Shah Rukh in the movie.

The director then elaborated on his interpretation of the term 'mass,' stating, “To me, mass embodies a maternal instinct rather than something foreign. It is the emotional response one feels for a girl, an emotion, or a child—this is what constitutes mass. Experiencing anger for justifiable reasons also represents mass. When one genuinely advocates for society, that is mass. Anything else that is labelled as mass does not truly qualify. This authentic mass is the reason my films resonate with audiences and achieve box office success. That is my guiding principle.”

Future tasks.

In addition to co-producing "Baby John," set to premiere in theaters on December 25 with Varun Dhawan in the leading role, Atlee is preparing to unveil his next directorial venture. Salman Khan, who is presently collaborating with AR Murugadoss, is reportedly on board for a project directed by Atlee. Furthermore, he has confirmed that he has a Tamil film scheduled with Vijay Sethupathi.
