Allu Arjun got arrested by the Chikkadapally police in Hyderabad on Friday, December 13, related to a death that happened during the premiere of his new movie, Pushpa 2: The Rule. The police say that neither the actor nor the theater management informed them beforehand, but a letter from the Sandhya Theatre asking for permission ended up getting leaked online.
Letter of approval from the Sandhya Theatre management.
A leaked letter reveals that the management of Sandhya Theatre at RTC X Roads has reached out to the Chikkadapally police for security arrangements on December 4 and 5.
Dated December 2, the letter states, “We kindly ask you to set up police presence at Sandhya 70 MM RTC ‘X’ Roads, Hyderabad, for the release of Pushpa - 2 on December 4, 2024, as we expect a large crowd of fans. The film's lead actors, VIPs, and production team will be attending the screening.”
Additionally, the letter mentions that Pushpa 2: The Rule will be shown at 9:30 PM on December 4, with four screenings scheduled for December 5. It has been signed and stamped by the assistant police commissioner of Chikkadapally. The police have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the letter. The police's statements.
On December 4, Arjun went to Sandhya Theatre with his wife Allu Sneha Reddy, co-star Rashmika Mandanna, and some other crew members. They ended up leaving the movie early because Arjun said they were informed that the crowd was becoming difficult to manage. Unfortunately, this visit led to a stampede that resulted in one woman losing her life and her young son being hospitalized in critical condition. Arjun has since expressed his regrets and has promised to provide financial support to the victim’s family.
The police have opened a case against Arjun and the Sandhya Theatre management at the Chikkadpally police station, citing sections 105, 118 (1), and other relevant parts of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
According to the police, “There were no arrangements made by the theatre management, nor was there any prior notice about the actor's arrival with the film crew. His personal security team began pushing through the crowd, which only made things worse since there was already a large gathering at the theatre,” they told PTI after the case was filed.
