Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra's film The Sabarmati Report has had a turbulent ride ahead of its theatrical release. The movie was set to release in August this year. Apart from it getting postponed, filmmaker Ranjan Chandel was replaced as the director of The Sabarmati Report. While he was initially going to helm the movie, a new poster of Vikrant's film had Dheeraj Sarna's name as the director. In a new interview, Ranjan has revealed why he doesn't want his name associated with the project.
Ranjan Chandel on The Sabarmati Report
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Ranjan Chandel revealed he wasn't informed about the credit change in The Sabarmati Report. However, the filmmaker has no issues with it. Chandel said he decided to 'get out'. And now, the director doesn't want his credit for Vikrant Massey's film.
Ranjan was replaced as a director as producers wanted some portions of the film to be reshot and this vision didn't align with him. "The film might have a huge portion that I shot, but since there was a difference in creative vision, I told the makers I don't want my name associated with it, as the whole vision of the film wouldn’t be mine. I didn’t want to take responsibility for it as the film deals with a sensitive subject. But I am happy and I wish the film all the best," he told the publication.
For those who've come in late, The Sabarmati Report is against the backdrop of the Godhra train burning incident, which happened on February 27, 2002. The incident happened on the Sabarmati Express train.
