Nivin Pauly, who gained fame through the film Premam, is a highly regarded figure in Malayalam cinema. However, the actor known for his role in Neram has not achieved a major box office success in recent times. Nivin Pauly shares a close friendship with Vineeth Sreenivasan, with whom he has collaborated on successful projects like Thattathin Marayathu.

Currently engaged in the promotion of his forthcoming film Oru Jaathi Jathakam, Vineeth Sreenivasan discussed Nivin Pauly and the possibility of future collaborations. He was also inquired whether Nivin had been considered for the role in Mukundan Unni Associates, a film that ultimately featured Vineeth Sreenivasan.

Was Nivin Pauly approached for Mukundan Unni Associates?

During a promotional interview for Oru Jaathi Jathakam, Vineeth was questioned about whether Nivin Pauly had been offered the role in Mukundan Unni Associates, directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak.

Initially, Vineeth stated that he was unaware of such an offer. However, he elaborated that the director Abhinav had a list of potential candidates. “He had a list of about 4-5 names. I believe he wanted Nivin to take on the lead role. Then he considered another actor, and then another,” Vineeth explained.

Vineeth, who has directed popular films such as Hridayam featuring Pranav Mohanlal, further noted that actors often feel uncertain about projects when they are not well-acquainted with the directors involved.

He mentioned his previous collaboration with director Abhinav, an editor-turned-filmmaker who had edited the trailers for his films, Thira and Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

Mukundan Unni Associates

For those unfamiliar, Mukundan Unni Associates represents the directorial debut of Abhinav. Vineeth Sreenivasan played the lead role of advocate Mukundan Unni in this black comedy.

Mukundan Unni Associates is currently available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Nivin Pauly was recently featured in the film Malayalee From India, alongside Dhyan Sreenivasan. The movie received mixed reviews upon its release and is currently available for streaming on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium. Additionally, Nivin appeared in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Varshangalkku Shesham, where his performance, despite limited screen time, garnered attention.

In another development, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Jaathi Jathakam, which includes Nikhila Vimal in the cast, is scheduled to premiere in theaters on January 31, 2025.
