Mazin, 53, clarified, “No, Neil and I are genuinely focused on conveying the existing story, and it will reach a conclusion, whether in season 3 or season 4. I’m uncertain how I could surpass this. If there is to be more or less, it will be up to others to continue. Meanwhile, I’ll pursue smaller projects—like two individuals conversing in a cozy room.”

The second season of The Last of Us is scheduled to debut on HBO on April 13, 2025, with the episode titled Future Days, and is anticipated to conclude on May 25, 2025, with its seventh and final episode. This season was officially announced on January 27, 2023, and will adapt segments from the 2020 video game The Last of Us Part II, comprising a total of seven episodes.
