7 days ago | 5 Views
Amar Kaushik has established one of Bollywood's most successful blockbuster franchises through his innovative horror-comedy universe, featuring films such as Stree, Bhediya, and Stree 2. But what led him to this creative choice? The writer-director discussed his filmmaking approach and his intention to incorporate the character of Jana into subsequent films. In an interview with Komal Nahta on his YouTube series Game Changers, Amar revealed that the concept first came to him while he was working on Bhediya.
What Amar shared
During the discussion, when Amar was inquired about the possibility of creating a sequel to his films while working on the original, he expressed, "I dislike writing the end of a film. In life, nothing truly has an end. I prefer to leave my films open-ended. I have an aversion to 'The End.' I always feel there is more to explore with these characters, as it is impossible to conclude an entire world in just two hours."
On the character of Jana
He further elaborated, “While creating Bhediya, the concept of this universe emerged. During the writing process, Dinesh Vijan and I discussed the idea of developing a universe. However, we were uncertain about how to bring it to fruition. At that moment, I considered whether I could incorporate the character Jana into another film.”
Abhishek Banerjee portrays the character of Jana within the Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe. Renowned for his ability to attract ghosts and demons, Jana has been featured in Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya.
