Sunita Ahuja, the wife of Govinda, is recognized for her candidness and forthrightness. In a recent interview, she opened up about her marriage, disclosing that they often engage in verbal disputes. Additionally, Sunita expressed her views on infidelity within marriages.

Sunita gets candid

In a discussion with Hauterrfly, Sunita addressed various subjects, including her relationship with Govinda and the challenges they have faced together.

Sunita remarked, “I still don’t perceive us as husband and wife. I refer to him as ‘Abbe,’ and he reciprocates in kind. This is our mode of communication. Banter and playful insults are integral to our interactions... At times, I question him, ‘Are you truly my husband? I still find it hard to accept that you are my husband.’”

She also shared her perspective on marital infidelity, advising women to be cautious, stating, “I would urge women to never assume that their partner is innocent of cheating. If infidelity occurs, it can lead to significant turmoil, and regardless of efforts to end the affair, the other woman may remain involved for years. Even if you choose to leave him, she may not.”

In a 1990 interview with Stardust, Govinda revealed that he had initially ended his engagement with Sunita to pursue a relationship with Neelam, stating, “I asked Sunita Ahuja to leave me. I broke off my engagement with her. Had Sunita not reached out to me after five days and persuaded me to reconsider, I might have married Neelam.”

During the interview, Sunita reflected on her long-standing relationship with Govinda, admitting that they have experienced numerous highs and lows over the past 40 years. She emphasized her resilience throughout these challenges.

Their daughter Tina, who was present during the interview, described her mother as an intense lover, highlighting Sunita's deep affection for Govinda.

About the couple

Sunita entered into matrimony with Govinda on March 11, 1987. She is the sister-in-law of Govinda's uncle, Anand Singh, who served as an assistant to the renowned director Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Together, Sunita and Govinda have two children: a daughter named Tina Ahuja and a son named Yashvardhan. Tina made her debut in Hindi cinema with the film Second Hand Husband in 2015. Tragically, the couple's first daughter, who was born prematurely, passed away at the age of four months.
