Actor Suriya, who is awaiting the release of Kanguva, on Tuesday gave a huge shoutout to Vikram's upcoming film Thangalaan which is due to release on Thursday (August 15). Suriya took to social media platform X to congratulate the team and send his best wishes.

Suriya gives shoutout to Thangalaan team

The makers of Thangalaan are awaiting the release of their film for Independence Day on Thursday. Ahead of this, actor Suriya took to X to send his best wishes for the film, “#Thangalaan…! THIS WIN WILL BE HUGE!!” To this, Vikram and Thangalaan music composer GV Prakash replied thanking Suriya for his wishes.

Thangalaan is a period-action drama, written and directed by Pa Ranjith. The film stars Vikram, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, and others. Thangalaan revolves around a tribal group which is commissioned by a British officer to find gold in KGF. However, in doing so, the group earns the wrath of a sorceress. Thangalaan is backed by Studio Green, which is also producing Suriya-starrer Kanguva.

Meanwhile, Kanguva is scheduled to release on October 10. The film, again a period actioner, is directed by Siruthai Siva. It also stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu and others.

It is to be noted that both Suriya and Vikram shared screen space in Pithamagan, in which both the actors' performances were praised by critics and audiences, alike. The film is available on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium

The 2003 film is directed by filmmaker Bala, and is based on Jayakanthan's short story Nandhavanathil Oru Aandi. It revolves around an autistic undertaker who is cut off from the human connection as he is taken care by a small-time con man. The film revolves around the relationship of the men, and how it takes a tragic turn. Vikram won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance.
