On Sunday, Telangana's DGP Jitender emphasized that film personalities and everyone else need to realize that the safety and security of citizens is a top priority, and they should act accordingly. This statement followed a press conference held by Allu Arjun, where he addressed new allegations related to the stampede incident at the Pushpa 2: The Rule premiere.

DGP Jitender shares his thoughts on Allu Arjun

He was addressing a question about the tragic death of a woman in a stampede at the Pushpa 2: The Rule screening earlier this month, along with some remarks made by Arjun. He mentioned that the police don't hold any personal grudges against anyone, but everyone should be accountable to the citizens of the state.

"Sure, they’re heroes in movies, but they need to grasp the real issues in society. Promoting a film shouldn’t take precedence over ensuring the safety of the public. Something went wrong here, and we all need to recognize that these kinds of events are harmful to the safety and security of our citizens," he told reporters in Karimnagar district.

Chikkadapally CI Raju Nayak also made it clear that he denied Arjun permission to visit the theater during the premiere, expressing regret that he ‘couldn't save a life’. He added that he felt he might have ‘died’ himself in the chaos of the stampede.

ACP Ramesh mentioned to the media that Arjun was made aware of the stampede while he was at Sandhya Theatre watching a movie. He explained, “Allu Arjun's manager, Santosh, was the first to hear about the death while they were still in the theatre. We informed him that the situation was getting out of hand and that a boy had been taken to the hospital. However, Santosh and another individual wouldn’t let us meet the actor.”

Ramesh insisted that they should inform Arjun, but they didn’t follow through. When the DGP urged the ACP to speak to the actor, he went to deliver the message personally. “I told him, ‘You’re a celebrity, our officers have cleared a path for you, you need to leave.’ But he wanted to finish the film. It was only when the DGP stepped in and gave him 10 minutes to exit that he finally agreed to leave.”

The statement from the Telangana police matches what CM Revanth Reddy and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi shared in the assembly.

Something went down

A woman lost her life and her eight-year-old son got hurt in a stampede during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule at a local theater earlier this month. Arjun, who happened to be at the theater at the time, was taken into custody regarding the incident, but the high court later granted him temporary bail. At a press conference at his home on Saturday, the actor claimed he had no idea about what happened until the following day.
