Tejasswi Prakash shares her experience with body-shaming
Talking about being body-shamed for having a round face and a slim figure, Tejasswi mentioned, “I’ve always been on the slimmer side, and I find it amusing when people feel it's okay to comment on someone’s weight, like saying ‘you’re so thin’ or ‘you look healthy now.’ But if someone puts on a few pounds, you wouldn’t hear those kinds of remarks. I’ve got this unusual body type with a slim body and a round face, which confuses people, leading to comments like ‘football face.’ Even now, my face is still round, and I’m not sure if I can change that. However, I don’t let those comments get to me; instead, I focus on making positive changes, like boosting my protein intake or trying face yoga.”
She also mentioned that she doesn’t let negative comments get under her skin and believes in striking a balance between body positivity and self-improvement. She emphasized that she welcomes constructive criticism and works on bettering herself.
Tejasswi Prakash remembers facing bullying during her college years
Tejasswi shared her experience of being bullied during her college years, recalling how classmates would call her “Chubby” and make fun of her looks. However, everything changed after one particular incident. She remembered, “At 17, during my college fest, I noticed the stage was dirty. So, I thought, ‘I’ll clean it up.’” While she was tidying up, someone snapped a photo and posted it online with the caption, “Tejasswi doing what she does best.” When she discovered the photo, she felt humiliated and ended up running home in tears, spending the whole night upset. That moment sparked a determination in her to prove herself.
Not long after, she learned about a beauty pageant at her college and decided to enter, even though she had no prior experience in modeling. Luckily, she won the competition, which opened doors for magazine cover shoots and caught the attention of casting agents. When she got her first audition call, she thought she’d give television a shot. Upon returning to college, the same people who once bullied her were now eager to take selfies with her.
