2 days ago | 5 Views

Taylor Swift just wrapped up an amazing 2024! She snagged the Grammy for Album of the Year with Midnights, dropped her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, finished a record-breaking concert tour, and made tons of public appearances with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Plus, she became the most-streamed artist on Spotify. Seriously, no one is doing it like Taylor right now. This year, she took her fame to heights we haven't seen in ages.

Huge night at the Grammys!

Taylor dropped a major surprise at the Grammy Awards in February when she took the stage to accept the award for best pop vocal album. She revealed that her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, is set to come out in April.

The singer posted the album cover on Instagram not long after. That same night, she made history by being the first artist to snag Album of the Year four times. Before this, she had already won it three times with Fearless in 2010, 1989 in 2015, and Folklore in 2021.

The launch of The Tortured Poets Department

The Tortured Poets Department dropped their new album and shattered a bunch of records right off the bat. But staying true to her unpredictable style, the singer had a big surprise up her sleeve. Instead of just the 16 main tracks and four bonus ones that were initially announced, she ended up releasing a whopping 31 new songs.

In less than 12 hours after its release, the album racked up 300 million streams, making it the most-streamed album on Spotify in a single day ever. Plus, the track "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, broke the record for the most streams in a day for a single song. It also became the fastest album in Spotify history to hit one billion streams within just a week.

The Eras Tour is here!

The Eras Tour was definitely the shining moment of the year for Taylor. Kicking off in Glendale, Arizona on March 17, 2023, she picked it back up on May 9, 2024, in Paris, France. The setlist got a fresh twist with new tracks from The Tortured Poets Department, plus she threw in some surprise songs, piano renditions, and stylish new outfits. Since then, she’s hit up places like Sweden, Portugal, Spain, France, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

According to Forbes, the record-setting Eras Tour gave a significant boost to the economies of various countries. The eight shows in London alone raked in an estimated £300 million for the local economy, as reported by London & Partners. In Melbourne, her stop brought in an impressive estimate of $1.2 billion in Australian dollars.

The New York Times reported that Taylor Swift Touring confirmed the tour sold a staggering $2,077,618,725 in tickets, which is “double the gross ticket sales of any other concert tour in history.”

In just eight months, The Eras Tour grossed over $1 billion, making it a monumental success. Social media was buzzing with clips showcasing the vibrant, dazzling performances filled with melodrama and the exchange of friendship bracelets. After her concerts at Seattle's Lumen Field in July caused some seismic activity, a research team from the California Institute of Technology looked into what causes "concert tremor."

Celebrities flocked to her shows, including Haim, Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Selena Gomez, Diplo, Cara Delevingne, and Jack Antonoff. Bollywood stars like Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni were also there, proudly showing their Swiftie status.

Even retired tennis champ Roger Federer joined the fan club, attending her Eras Tour stop in Zürich, Switzerland.

The Eras Tour wrapped up on December 8, and the singer got really emotional during her last show in Toronto, where the crowd gave her a standing ovation. She expressed, "My band, my crew, and all the amazing performers have poured so much of ourselves into this. And you all have dedicated so much of your lives to be here with us tonight, creating a moment we’ll always cherish. Our time in Toronto has been incredible, and I love you all. Thank you so much for this."

Taylor and Travis

When it was announced last year that Taylor was dating NFL star Travis Kelce, the internet totally lost it. Throughout the year, they were spotted together all over the place: she showed up at his games, and he even went above and beyond by making a surprise appearance during her Eras Tour in London on June 23. Travis jumped in during her I Can Do It With a Broken Heart outfit change and carried her as part of the performance.

Travis just pulled off an epic surprise bash for Taylor's 35th birthday, complete with awesome props and nods to her amazing career.

To sum it up, 2024 was definitely Taylor Swift's year. Fans were treated to fresh tracks, loads of new versions, and unforgettable moments from the Eras Tour. While we can't predict what Taylor has planned for 2025, one thing's for sure: we'll be ready for whatever new era comes our way!
