Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds are said to have played a significant role in shaping Blake Lively's vision for It Ends With Us, allegedly exerting pressure on Justin Baldoni to agree to the script revisions, as stated in Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit. The actor and director claims that Blake Lively leveraged Swift's considerable influence to dominate the production process. He further elaborated on a particular 'rooftop' scene, which he had been hesitant to alter, noting that he ultimately consented to review the modifications she proposed.

Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds 'pressured' Justin Baldoni into Blake Lively's rewrite

Justin Baldoni initiated a $400 million lawsuit on Thursday, January 16, against Blake Lively, her spouse Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist. This legal action follows Lively's complaint, filed on December 20, in which she accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and fostering a hostile work environment.

In his extensive 179-page complaint, as reported by PEOPLE, Baldoni detailed Lively's role in altering significant scenes in the film, which he asserts was influenced by pressure from Reynolds and Taylor Swift. During the pre-production phase, Lively allegedly sought to modify a crucial "rooftop scene" in which her character, Lily Bloom, encounters Baldoni's character, Ryle Kincaid. Although Baldoni was initially reluctant, he ultimately consented to consider her changes.

Baldoni claims that Lively's revised scene was markedly different from the original script. After he voiced some reservations, Lively purportedly remained unresponsive for several days before eventually texting him, indicating that his reaction "didn't feel great" to her, Reynolds, and Taylor Swift, who is a close friend of the couple.

The alleged Penthouse meeting

The lawsuit further alleges that Baldoni was invited to the New York City penthouse of Lively and Reynolds, where Swift was also in attendance. During this gathering, both the pop star and Reynolds reportedly commended Lively for her revisions to the script. Baldoni interpreted this as implicit pressure to accept the modified version.

Subsequently, Baldoni sent a text to Lively, expressing his appreciation for her changes and stating, “I really love what you did. It really does help a lot... And I would have felt that way without Ryan or Taylor.”

Lively replied with enthusiasm, likening herself to Khaleesi from Game of Thrones, and referred to Reynolds and Swift as her “dragons” who provide her with protection. She characterized them as her most trusted collaborators and acknowledged their steadfast support throughout her career.

“The message could not have been clearer. Baldoni was not merely contending with Lively. He was also up against Lively’s ‘dragons,’ two of the most powerful and affluent celebrities globally, who were unafraid to complicate matters for him,” the lawsuit asserts.

Blake Lively’s response

Blake Lively reportedly sent a message to Justin Baldoni stating, "Should you find the time to watch Game of Thrones, you will come to understand that I am Khaleesi, and like her, I possess a few dragons. This is both a blessing and a curse, though predominantly a blessing, as my dragons serve to protect those I stand with. Therefore, we all gain from the presence of my magnificent creatures. You will as well, I assure you."

In addition, Taylor Swift's participation goes beyond the purported meeting at the penthouse. Her track, “My Tears Ricochet,” was included in both the film's trailer and its soundtrack.

In his legal action, Justin Baldoni asserts that Blake Lively not only revised the film's script but also became excessively involved in the production process, including overseeing her character's wardrobe. Baldoni refutes the allegations made by Lively in her own lawsuit, which include claims of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct, and he contests that he ever entered the room while she was breastfeeding.
