The controversy regarding Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks on Samay Raina's India's Got Latent continues to generate significant attention. Recently, content creator Tanmay Bhat released a cryptic video that numerous social media users interpret as a veiled reference to the current situation.
Tanmay takes a dig
Tanmay recently shared a humorous yet enigmatic video on Instagram. In this clip, he is seen performing a slow-motion dance to the well-known song "Ranjha" by B Praak from the film Shershaah, specifically to the lyrics "Mera Dola Ni Aaya." His friend, Naveed Manakkodan, also makes an appearance in the video.
"Me watching the news every day," Tanmay wrote as the caption for the post.
Tanmay has not directly linked his video to the ongoing controversy; however, numerous social media users believe he is alluding to the situation indirectly. Some viewers perceive his video as a subtle critique of the current drama, while others suggest that he is expressing relief at having sidestepped involvement in the contentious episode of India's Got Latent.
One user remarked, "Bro got flashback." Another added, "Tanmay is pleased that no case was filed against him."
A different user noted, “Tanmay bhai ko to FOMO ho rha hoga news dekh kr (Tanmay might be experiencing FOMO after watching the news).”
“Bpraak makes yet another entry,” commented one individual, while another stated, “@tanmaybhat be like - Been there, done that, bounced back.”
In February 2015, Tanmay Bhat's All India Bakchod (AIB) Knockout, a comedy roast, faced legal challenges that led to its cancellation. The show, which included Bollywood celebrities such as Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt, was criticized for being "vulgar, obscene, and pornographic." Multiple FIRs were lodged against the group and its participants.
About the stir
The controversy erupted after Ranveer made comments during a now-removed episode of India's Got Latent, which featured Samay Raina and other panellists. For those unfamiliar, Ranveer served as a judge on the recent episode of India’s Got Latent alongside Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, and Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid, among others. During the show, he posed a provocative question to a contestant that drew significant criticism online: "Would you rather watch your parents engage in sexual activity every day for the rest of your life or participate once and end it forever?"
In the wake of the backlash, Samay removed all related videos, and Ranveer reported that he and his family had received death threats. Consequently, Ranveer has been summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber to appear on February 24.
Recently, singer B Praak, who had cancelled his appearance on Ranveer’s podcast, revisited the issue and suggested that Ranveer should be forgiven if he genuinely regrets his actions.
