Taapsee Pannu is currently busy promoting her film Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba. The actress will reprise her character of Rani in the film, which will soon premiere on Netflix. It is a sequel to her 2021 film Haseen Dillruba, which also featured Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane. Taapsee, in a recent interview, addressed the possibility of her character Rani being 'toxic'. In her opinion, the character is not a 'toxic' protagonist. The actress stated a few reasons why she believes it.
Taapsee Pannu believes Rani is not 'toxic'
In an interview with News18, Taapsee Pannu was asked if she feels the character Rani in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is 'alpha'. To this, the actress said, "Just because you feel that she’s toxic? (laughs) The definition of ‘alpha’ is becoming a little warped. People have started associating some kind of glorification with this word."
Pannu added that she hasn't viewed her character as an 'alpha'. Instead, she feels Rani is someone who doesn't always make the right decision but also owns up to her mistakes and is ready to pay the price for that.
"She never tried to portray her flaws with a heroic colour. One may call her alpha or sigma but I don’t think she’s a toxic protagonist. That’s why I’m very happy and proud that I played her and I don’t regret it. People who are viewing her from a myopic lens should change their lens right away," added Taapsee.
Taapsee Pannu on her notion of love
In the same conversation, Taapsee added that love doesn't mean madness. According to the actress, love should be calm and tranquil. She stated, "These are fun things to read and see but shouldn’t happen in real life." Having aid that, Taapsee doesn't wish to see any kind of crazy excitement in love and her personal life. For the uninitiated, Taapsee married her longtime boyfriend Mathias Boe earlier this year.
As far as her film Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is concerned, the film will premiere on Netflix on August 9, 2024.
